Frequently asked questions:

Q: I purchased the Heart Rhythm Scanner with ActiveECG device. What kind of ECG electrodes and from what vendor would you recommend to buy?

A: Most of our customers use 3SG3-N pre-gelled hypoallergenic fabric snap electrodes from Multi Bio Sensors. You can find them at www.multibiosensors.com.

Q: I have Biocom Heart Rhythm Scanner 2.0 and Biocom 1500 ECG Recorder. I installed the software on my new laptop that does not have a serial port required to connect my ECG Recorder. Can I use any off-the-shelf serial-to-USB adapter?
A: No. Biocom 1500 has a special communication protocol that is not supported by any off-the-shelf serial-to-USB adapters. Biocom has a specially designed adapter to bee used in such cases. By the way, if you run this system on PC with Windows XP, Biocom 1500 will not be detected on it even it is connected to a standard serial port. Same special serial-to-USB adapter must be used to connect this device to PC with Windows XP. Please contact us at sales@biocomtech.com to order this adapter.

Q: Is it possible to take a sequence of 5-minute data segments out of recorded test to do their comparative HRV analysis?
A: The Heart Rhythm Scanner performs testing based on specific protocols. Each protocol consists of a number of test trials of specific duration (typically 5-minutes). So you can create a protocol consisting of a sequence of 5-min test trials and run them one after another. They will be automatically analyzed and compared in HRV report. If these segments must be recorded as one continuous pool of data, the software can run all trial without stops. Select “View” menu option and clear “Trial Dialog” menu option to run all trials without stops.

Q: How to interpret the autonomic balance diagram reading in the Heart Rhythm Scanner test results?
A: Click here to read the autonomic balance diagram interpretation guidelines.

Q: I purchased the Heart Rhythm Scanner with BIOCOM 3000 ECG recorder. At what rate does it sample the ECG signal and what is a sampling resolution?
A: The BIOCOM 3000 ECG recorder is capable of sampling the ECG signal at different rates. With the Heart Rhythm Scanner it samples the ECG at 256 samples/sec. The sampling resolution is 16 bit.
